Research findings indicate that school-based, peer coaching plays a role in improving student achievement. This research wouldn’t surprise many teachers. They often look first to colleagues when they need assistance to integrate technology into their classroom. Peer coaching enhances each school’s capacity to offer sustained, high quality assistance to its teachers. The Peer Coaching Program provides coaches with the knowledge, tools, and support needed to enhance student learning. By providing job-embedded, on-going professional support, coaches can help build new strategies and skills by:
- Encouraging reflection and analysis of teaching practice.
- Fostering collaboration among teachers throughout the school building.
- Utilizing the school’s teacher leaders.
- Providing on-going, cost-effective staff development.
- Providing opportunities for professional growth for their colleagues whatever their experience with integrating technology.
